Effects of polarization-reversed EMIC waves on the ring current dynamics

It is widely believed that the electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves play an important role in influencing radiation belt and ring current dynamics. Most studies investigated effects or characteristics of EMIC assuming their left-handed polarization. However, recent found polarization reversal, which occurs at higher latitudes along wave propagation path, can change wave-induced pitch angle diffusion coefficients. Whether such a reversal influence global dynamics remains unknown. In this study, we investigate proton precipitation loss association with reversed using Ring - Atmosphere interactions Model (RAM). The results indicate H-Band truly decrease scattering rates protons 10 to 50 keV > 100 by comparing scenario where are considered as purely polarized. Additionally, it intensity be slightly affected especially during prestorm recovery phase, but not large main phase. This probably because contribute primarily E < keV, energy range strongly reversal.
